Every parent knows the feeling: trying to understand your baby’s sleep rhythm can feel like solving a puzzle in the dark. One night your baby sleeps peacefully for hours, the next is full of unexpected wake-ups. One week bedtime goes smoothly, and then travel, growth spurts, or daylight saving time throw everything off. Often you’re left with questions like:

  • “How long was she actually awake last night?”

  • “Is it normal at this age that he wakes up so often during the night?”

  • “She slept for a long time… but was it really good sleep?”

We’ve all been there, which is why we developed a new feature to help you.

Meet Sleep Score

The very first AI-driven, scientifically backed sleep score, designed specifically for babies. Sleep Score unravels the complexity of your baby’s night and translates it into one clear score that shows how well your baby slept. This gives you insight into how your baby’s sleep quality develops over time.

As your baby grows, the Sleep Score automatically adapts to their age, ensuring that the insights always match your child’s developmental stage. This way, you get not only a complete picture of every night, but also greater clarity in every phase and during every leap you go through together.

What is Sleep Score?

Think of Sleep Score as your baby’s morning sleep summary, captured in one simple score (up to 100).

Not a fan of charts and complicated statistics? Sleep Score is the single number you can rely on for trustworthy insights into your baby’s sleep pattern. Behind the scenes, it uses the same advanced computer vision technology Nanit has been using for years to analyze sleep, combined with the expertise of Nanit Lab specialists and our scientific advisory panel.

In short, we’ve made the science of sleep and cutting-edge technology accessible in the most parent-friendly way possible.

How Sleep Score Works

Every night, Nanit automatically (you don’t have to do anything) captures detailed information about your baby’s sleep quality. In the morning, all of this data is transformed into one clear sleep score.

Because babies are constantly changing, the same combination of sleep factors can look very different for a 2-month-old than for a 12-month-old. That’s why Sleep Score adapts to every stage of development.

“Good sleep” is not just about the number of hours. The Sleep Score is built on four core components that sleep scientists consider essential for healthy sleep:

  1. Sleep duration: How long your baby actually slept during the night, not just the time spent in bed.

  2. Sleep timing: How well your baby’s bedtime and wake-up time align with age-appropriate biological rhythms.

  3. Sleep continuity: How smoothly your baby slept, including the number of night awakenings and the time spent awake between sleep periods.

  4. Parental assistance: How often you helped your baby settle, giving you insight into how much support your baby needed—something no other baby monitor tracks.

All of this data is combined into one clear number that summarizes the night.

Ready to See Your Baby’s Sleep Score?

Sleep Score has been rolling out to Nanit subscribers over the past few weeks. Your app updates automatically—there’s nothing extra you need to do.

As soon as it appears on your dashboard, you’ll be greeted every morning with a new Sleep Score. You’ll see how the night went, how it fits within your baby’s normal pattern, and which factors influenced it.

Within a few days, you’ll start to recognize patterns. The more sleep you track, the more powerful this tool becomes—and the better you’ll understand your baby’s sleep rhythm.

Here’s to calmer nights, easier mornings, and quality sleep for the whole family.

Sweet dreams await!
